The Governor has given the directive/mandate that all schools both public and private will be closed from March 17th to March 30th. We will have school on Monday, March 16th. More details to follow.

The limo ride to Pizza Hut has been scheduled for March 24 for the 37 students who sold 20 or more items of cookie dough during the recent VES fundraiser. If your child earned this reward, he/she will be bringing home a permission slip on yellow paper this week. Please sign this and send it back to Mrs. Mesnard. All the instructions you need to know are on this form.

The cookie dough delivery date is Thursday, March 26 from 3:00-7:00 in the VES cafeteria. The cookie dough must be picked up during this time as we do not have freezer space to store it for you.
Reminder that this Thursday, March 5 is our annual Grandparent's Event! This time it will be in the evening beginning at 6:00. At 6:00 in the VES gym we will kick off with a fun singalong led by VES Music teacher Mrs. Welch. We will be singing songs loved by young and old! This will last about 15 minutes. After that we will broken up into groups and you can move from station to station according to your interest. Our stations will include snacks, crafts, a skit, activities, a photograph station, and the Book Fair. All VES students and their families (including grandparents of course) are invited to attend. The event will last from 6:00-8:00.
Buddy Bench update from Miss Bennett:
We have concluded the fundraising for the Buddy Benches. I don’t have a final total raised yet, but will share that when I do. I know we have raised enough to get a buddy bench for each building (VJHS, VCHS, and Jefferson) and an additional one that will be placed at Rogier Park. Thank you to everyone who supported this effort.

We are celebrating 38 years of Honor Chorus along with tribute to Carol Osborne. We would like to invite you (any past Honor Chorus member, any age) to sing the final song, "Fight Song" by Rachel Patten, of our performance with the Honor Chorus students this year.
Feel free to join us for practice Friday, May 1st at 4:30pm in the Vandalia Elementary School gym. The performance will be Saturday, May 2nd at 7:00pm in the VES gym.

Our annual cookie dough sale has been a huge success once again. I have passed out every "chicken" I have and have ordered more. If your child hasn't received her/his chickens yet, I assure you I'm keeping a list and will get them to the students asap. As we process the order forms and count the money, I will be putting an update on Facebook with a list of the limo ride/Pizza Hut earners. Any student who sold 20 or more items of cookie dough will earn this reward. If you haven't turned in your money/order form, please send it to the school asap.
Reminder that school dismisses at 11:30 today, Friday, February 14, 2020. Parent/teacher conferences are today from 12:30 to 3:00 at VES. There is no school on Monday, Feb. 17 in observance of President's Day. Money and order forms for the cookie dough sale is due on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Please make sure your child's name is on the cookie dough order form and the envelope money.
