Mrs. Graumenz's last zoom with her first grade students. They read about what they learned and enjoyed in first grade and played "race to name it " game. I'm so proud of all of them!!

Mrs. Robbins' class made "Light Sabers" for yesterday's Star Wars Day - May the 4th! Mrs. Robbins sent two different colored bulbs to each student. Students compared colors and experimented what happened when both bulbs were on the battery at the same time! Afterward the students wrote in their journals: "I made a light saber!" They also drew pictures of the three things you need to make them.

Good Morning VES parents,
Happy Friday and Happy May Day! Thank you for those of you who came through the pickup line at VES yesterday to retrieve your student's belongings, get their workbook for May (K-3rd), and return complete student work. If you did not come through the line yesterday, it's important that you come to VES any weekday from 9:00-1:00 and ring the doorbell at the front door. A VES staff member will bring you your student's belonging and workbook and collect any student work you have to return.
Also, PreK parents - We did not make a May time log for you. If you would please just write your daily time/activities spent on work down on a sheet of paper for the May dates, that will suffice.
I want to give a big shout out to Karen Downs, PreK of Fayette County director, for the goodie bags that she prepared for each student at VES. This bag had a jump rope, book, crayons, etc. in it and we were able to place the Lifetouch pictures and student workbook nicely into the bag. She worked very hard to get all of those bags prepared and we appreciate her time and effort.
If your student has a library book at home, that absolutely needs to be returned to the school as soon as possible as well.
Please continue to reach out to me or your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns.

The Governor has announced we will continue Remote Learning for the remainder of the 19-20 school year. Next week our meal distribution will change to M, W, F still providing the same number of meals. We will continue to work as a team & get through this together. #VandalStrong
Very important - The next mass distribution date will be Tuesday, April 14 from 9:00-12:00 and 3:00-6:00 in the VES circle drive. This will include work for April 14-30. This will be for PreK, K, and 1st grades. 2nd and 3rd grade will continue to do Google Classroom via their Chromebooks. If you are a 2nd or 3rd grade parent who has contacted your child's teacher previously to have a paper packet made for your child, your teacher will make a paper packet for your child this time as well, and it will be available for pickup on this date as well. To summarize this, all PreK, K, and 1st need to come and get a paper packet. 2nd and 3rd only need to get a paper packet if you have made arrangements to that effect with your child's teacher because you do not have internet access.
