Because of inclement weather, school will be dismissing at 2:00 today, Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Information about cookie dough fundraiser: The cookie dough sale will run from Feb. 3 through Feb. 18. I am aware that the info that went home in the packet says Feb. 17 but that is President's Day so the 18th will be our due date for money and order forms. Thanks to all of you who are selling! Buddy Bench update: Land of Lincoln Credit Union will be donating the funds to purchase one of the three Buddy Benches.  How AWESOME is that!?!  Thank you so much for your support of our commun

Parents, please remember that your child needs to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school after an illness. We have had a lot of absent students at school this week. We are working hard to keep our school sanitized and germ free.

VES is fundraising to purchase Buddy Benches in memory of Jenna Protz and Holly Lidy. A buddy bench aims to end loneliness and foster friendship and kindness. A buddy bench allows students who do not have a playmate to come sit on the buddy bench and the other children are encouraged to include the student on the bench in their play group. This is a perfect way to memorialize the kind and loving girls Jenna and Holly were to everyone. Vandalia Correctional Center donated a Buddy Bench to VES in memory of Jenna and Holly and it is VES’ goal to purchase three more so one can be placed at the Junior High, High School, and Jefferson School. Below is a picture of what the buddy benches will look like. VES students are invited to participate in the following activities to raise money for the Buddy Benches: Friday February 7, 2020- Hat Day- pay $.50 to wear a hat at school Thursday February 13, 2020- Wacky Sock Day- pay $.50 to have wear wacky socks at school Friday February 21, 2020- Pajama Day- pay $.50 to wear pajamas to school Friday February 28, 2020- Twin Day- pay $.50 to dress like your buddy (classmate) Please feel free to contact Miss Bennett if you have any questions. Reminder that parent/teacher conferences for VES will be on Friday, Feb. 14 from 12:30-3:00. If you wish to speak to your child's teacher, please contact her before that date to set up an appointment.

Mrs Jewell's class - We read a story called Pearl and Wagner that built a robot for a science fair. These are the robots my kids built.

Vandalia Schools will be dismissing early today due to the impending winter weather. VES will dismiss at 12:00pm. VJHS and VCHS will dismiss at 12:15pm. There will not be afternoon Pre-K classes. All students will be served lunch before dismissal.

Family Reading Night scheduled for Thursday, November 21 has been canceled. The Book Fair is set up in the VES library this week. It will be open and available for families and students to shop on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, November 19-21 after school until 4:00 each day.

There will be No School on Friday, November 22nd in order for our students and staff members to attend services for Holly and Jenna. This decision was made based on what we do as a family to support two of our own staff members in their time of need.

All after school activities have been cancelled for Monday and Tuesday, November 18th and 19th.

No School on Wednesday, November 13th due to ice and refreezing on rural township roads. Stay safe!
